Metropolitan Water District of Southern California
Co-Op Intern, Water Quality Lab (WQL), Engineering Compliance Team | June 2023 - July 2025 | La Verne, CA
Reviewed design packages (design reports/drawings/specifications) and responded to construction submittals and requests for information.
Developed an Excel-based Concentration Time (CT) calculator for chlorine disinfection.
Verified the accuracy of PLC code for ozone CT disinfection calculations. Assisted in improving CT disinfection calculations by implementing more significant figures to reduce rounding errors.
Performed literature research to identify potential solutions for various operations and water quality issues at the treatment plants.
Tracked water treatment chemical use/expenditures, generating annual/monthly chemical reports.
Conducted field work in support of various projects, including sample collection, site visits/investigations, and equipment installation.
Created a digital Excel-based directory to replace a physical binder of cross-connection sites, improving accessibility and data organization.
Used innovative data analysis techniques to organize, record, and present information.
Conducted bench-scale tests and lab work on various projects.

Skills
Microsoft Apps
Extensive use of EXCEL, PowerPoint, and Word during college at professionally to analyze, organize, track, and present data. Presented results to senior engineers and managers.
MATLAB
Use during undergraduate degree and graduate degree to analyze data, solve differential equations (reaction kinetics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer) and present results.
Aspen HYSYS, Aveva PRO/II, ProMax, COMSOL Multiphysics
Used software to simulate chemical engineering, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and process control
Design of compressor systems, pumps, separation methods (distillation, gas adsorption, liquid-liquid extraction, etc.), refrigeration systems) and sensors for system control
Designed and simulated air membrane separation and PEM electrolysis for green ammonia synthesis (view project)
Arduino/Arduino IDE
Programmed and Arduino microcontroller for several projects require sensor data collection and display.
Used thermocouples, potentiometers, RGB LEDs, pushbuttons, switches, capacitors, transistors, joysticks, 8-bit and LCD displays, relays, and photoresistors (view projects)
LIMS, SCADA, PLC/Ladder Logic
Used LIMS to enter sample data, queried data from multiple decades
Used SCADA to analyze and monitor processes, collected data. Extensive navigation of system to view other processes and units.
Verified PLC code for water treatment ozone disinfection system.
Soldering
Have worked on several soldering projects since high school, have soldered several components on circuit boards and to repair household items
Soldered wires together to upgrade my cars stereo
3D Printing and Fusion 360
Have printed several hundred hours on my Bambu Lab printer, functional and cosmetic parts. Have printed and sold orders and a side hustle, working with a variety of customer request.
Have knowledge of 3D printing properties to optimize prints, including layer heights, walls, wall thickness, infill, nozzle diameter, speed, acceleration, supports, nozzle and bed temperatures, filament types, and multicolor prints. I have troubleshooted several problems such as bed adhesion, clogged and broken filament, and have fully taken apart and reassembled the tool head several times.
Have designed and exported several parts on Fusion 360, cosmetic and functional to 3D print.
